Happiness exists but what are the keys to reach it?? In my opinion, there are many factors that have some influence. Unfortunately some of these factors are not controllable: Genes and the happiness you experienced when you were a child. There have been studies that connect depressive tendencies to the tendencies your parents had. Maybe there are not only the genes but the atmosphere you have breathed during your childhood: where your parents happy? Have you experienced many difficulties in your childhood?

So now you are an adult. Is it impossible to reach happiness if you have this sad heritage? Difficult to say. First of all, happiness is not a permanent feeling. During the day, it is easy to pass through many mood changes, so the objective is to be happy the most part of the time.

From my point of view, one of the keys to happiness is being with people, and, if possible, with good friends. When you interact with people it is easier to forget your own problems, because you realize you are not the only one who have problems and therefore stop being so egocentric. It is easier to reach your own happiness when you make others happy. I have mentioned good friends. It is so important to feel that someone loves you and that you love someone… Only in this case you are able to feel your life has any sense.

Another key to happiness is having an objective in life, a realistic objective.  And while you are working to get the objective, you are happy or at least you are distracted. Being with people and working for an objective have something in common: to be occupied. In my opinion it is not healthy to have too much time to think. Of course it is important to think, but when you have many time on your own you may become crazy.

On the other hand, to reach happiness it is essential to have a healthy life: sport, good food and the possibility to sleep well. It is striking that every depressive person I talk with have insomnia. I have read an article remarking that parents who had children under 5 years old were less happy than others because their lack of sleep.

In conclusion, it is possible to reach happiness. Being surrounded by people, helping them, having a healthy life, working for an objective are some of the key factors to reach happiness, and only happiness gives any sense to our short life.

My suggestions:
